So there’s this giant blizzard heading my way, and they’ve dubbed it Nemo.
I don’t recall blizzards ever getting names in the past.

As I mentioned yesterday, on February 6th 2012, CollectingCandy.com officially launched. To celebrate this first birthday, I’ve gone back over the site’s 293 entries posted so far and have selected fifteen of my favorites to highlight and discuss. Let’s get to ’em.

A year ago today, on February 6th 2012, CollectingCandy.com was launched. I didn’t want to go by today without mentioning that, but that’s all I’m going to say about it just now. I do plan to mark the occasion in a bigger way – starting tomorrow.
For today, I’d like to present another edition of Wacky Wednesdays. This time featuring an offering from the original Wacky Packages series 9, released in 1974. A parody of the Snickers candy bar called Stickers.

Back in 1975, Ferrara Pan took a pair of its mainstay offerings and presented them in novelty boxes, each shaped like a fun vehicle. Of the two, I’ve managed to find the Atomic Fire Ball Candy (Fire) Engine and today I’ll be talking about that as well as the other; Ferrara Pan’s Jaw Breakers Candy Express.

It’s Super Bowl XLVII (Superbowl 47) today, the NFL’s championship game between the San Francisco 49’ers and the Baltimore Ravens. To mark that occasion I wanted to share a few NFL and Super Bowl related Snickers candy wrappers I’ve got in my collection.

Though I don’t remember the Nestle Calypso bar, I’ve had a 1960’s wrapper in my collection for a few years and it’s pretty neat. Recently I acquired a previously-unknown 1970’s Calypso bar wrapper with a completely different design and thought it would be the perfect time to dedicate a post to the topic.
Though the title of today’s post might sound like some negative thing, it’s not. Because today’s post is all about when Nestle promoted the Butterfinger brand with a slightly edgy, humorous take on itself. It’s also how they renamed Butterfinger to “The Finger”… at least for a day.

Much of my work here on CollectingCandy.com is related to uncovering and celebrating the histories of candy packaging and marketing, but that still leaves room to eyeball the current crop of confectionery goodies and cheer lead them as well. Since I try to keep an ongoing collection of the current wrappers and boxes, it’s especially exciting when I come across new flavors of standard brands. Last night, I found four! So today’s post is dedicated to these four new offerings that I found on shelves this week.

Welcome back to another edition of CollectingCandy.com’s Wacky Wednesdays! This week, we’ll be looking at one of my favorite parodies from the recently released Wacky Packages Old School series 4 – Atomic Fur Ball.
