I wanted to share something a bit off-the-beaten-path today, and while sorting through my archives yesterday I found the perfect thing; a series of Japanese Halloween Pocky boxes.
All the way from Japan: Halloween Pocky!!
A Sampling of Russell Stover’s Halloween Offerings!
Russell Stover isn’t the company I think of when I think of Halloween candy. They’re the boxed-chocolates company, so if anything, I associate them with Valentine’s Day, and somewhat with Christmas. Even so, Russell Stover has been producing Halloween offerings for quite some time. Today, I’ll take a look at a sampling of them.
From the UK: Trebor’s Mummies and their Tales from the Tomb!
Released in the United Kingdom around 1979 or 1980, Trebor’s Mummies were a roll candy of sorts with a cool series of “Tales of the Tomb” wrappers that encouraged kids to collect them all!
Wacky Wednesdays – Ork!
For today’s edition of Wacky Wednesdays, we’re once again tapping the recent Halloween editions of the Wacky Packages Postcards series. Up for today is Ork, an offering from the 2011 Halloween set.
Candy Wrappers as Halloween Costumes!
Not too long ago I added a vintage 1990 Simplicity pattern pack to my candy-related collection. When I received that pack, it got me wondering, “How typical is it to dress up AS candy for Halloween?” Turns out, it’s not as uncommon as I suspected.
Return of the Zombie Candy!!
Zombies have been a pop culture staple since the 1960’s, but in the last decade they’ve exploded in popularity. Just last night I enjoyed the season premiere of the breakout hit series, The Walking Dead. So, it should come as no surprise that zombies have made their way into the confectionery biz. Today, I’m going to share a couple zombie-related candies that are out this Halloween season.
A Pair of Halloween Candy Dips!
It’s been a whirlwind of comic book-related fun for me this weekend at New York Comic Con 2012, and today I’m enjoying winding down from that. So for this Sunday post, I’m going to cover two different dipping candies that created Halloween-themed versions; one from the 1990’s here in the USA, and the other from just last year over in the UK.
Fleer’s Pumpkin-Face Bubble Gum and More!
Today I’d like to turn my Halloween-focused lens onto a Fleer offering that for many years was a perennial favorite – Fleer’s Pumpkin-Face Bubble Gum. Not only that, I’ll showcase a pair of similar Fleer products that made their way onto Halloween shelves as well.
Reese’s New Peanut Butter Pumpkin Design!
As a candy packaging collector, it’s always fun when a standard brand undergoes a packaging redesign. The evolution of packaging design is one of the aspects of collecting that I find the most fascinating. So it was with a great amount of collector-enthusiasm that I greeted the new Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkin designs on shelves this year.
Halloween Hershey’s Kisses!
Today is the start of New York Comic Con 2012, and I’ll be attending over the next three days, so I may introduce a bit of brevity into the next few posts… if I can. With that bit of news out of the way, let me present today’s topic: Hershey’s Halloween-inspired Kisses!
