Hooray for College Football Season!! And Go Big Red with the Cornhusker Bar!

The college football season officially kicked off this week with a full slate of games yesterday, so today I thought I’d mark that occasion with a little college-related candy goodness.

I should also note that, having grown up in Nebraska and graduated from the University there, today’s post is going to be entirely Husker-centric.   I hope the fans of my team’s rivals will forgive me the indulgence.  Go Big Red!

Ah, Mr. T and his Gold Chain bubble gum.  I don’t have much to say about this that hasn’t already been said.  But having recently acquired a pack, I thought it warranted a dedicated post.

Candy Care Package from New Zealand!

One of the great things about our modern world is how easy it is to connect and share our interests. The ease by which we can now connect with one another has changed just about every aspect of our world, and it’s certainly changed the hobby of collecting. Now, it’s easy to exchange information with people instantly, and across the globe.

A Sunday at the Cinema and Just Born’s Movie Theater Boxes!

Yesterday was a Sunday, and it was also a movie day.  I was finally getting out to see the film an old friend of mine had made; Disney’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green.  The flick was wonderful (though a real tear-jerker), and on top of that I discovered a trio of new movie-theater-exclusive Just Born candy boxes!

Astronaut Neil Armstrong: 1930-2012

Neil Armstrong – NASA Photo

I was saddened to learn the news yesterday of the passing of Neil Armstrong.  The first man to step foot on the moon, he was a hero to countless people around the globe, including me.  So I felt I had to push back my planned post, and find a way to write about him today instead.

Though Armstrong has no direct ties to the world of confection that I’m aware of, candy makers and candy marketers were certainly as captivated by his accomplishments as the rest of the world was.   And that’s what I’ll be covering in today’s post.

Australia-New Zealand’s 2008 M&M’s Election Posters!

Though the marketing for international brands like M&M’s has become more homogenous over the decades, there can still be fascinating differences, depending on the country.  Today, I’d like to showcase an aspect of an M&M’s campaign that was quite a bit of fun, and was done for the Australia-New Zealand markets:  The 2008 M&M’s Election posters!

Killing Time In Times Square – CollectingCandy-Style!

I had a full day yesterday, which culminated in an early evening meeting at the West Way diner in Hell’s Kitchen.  I was in midtown a bit early, and found myself with 90 minutes to kill in the Times Square area.  Thinking about CollectingCandy, I decided to see if there were any candy offerings that might be unique to the area that I could pick up.  I turned up a couple.
