Once again it’s Super Bowl Sunday and today, February 2nd, 2014 – millions of football fans are waiting to see who comes away with the championship win between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. Here on CollectingCandy.com we’ll be marking the day with a celebration of all of the teams of the NFL by showcasing full sets of Snickers NFL team mini wrappers!
Plus we have info on the new Skittles Seattle Mix!
NFL team logo Snickers minis debuted in 2012, a release that I covered here last year. For the 2013 NFL season, they returned with a larger logo design, and joined by a Snickers Peanut Butter Squared release.
Here’s a look at all three wrapper versions:
As you can see, the team logo was made much more prominent by dropping the NFL and second Snickers logos.
I only ever came across these NFL Minis packages one time and at one store – I opted to pick them up and I’m glad I did, because I never saw them again. I managed to build a complete set of team wrappers out of each package, and here they are:
That’s all of the standard Snickers NFL minis wrappers – and here are the Peanut Butter Squared variety:
Between both Snickers versions, it’s 64 different minis wrappers – quite a few little wrappers to bring together for my collection. And that’s all of ’em!
===========================
As it is Superbowl Sunday, I wanted to include a second half to today’s post, and that second half is all about Skittles Seattle Mix.
For those that don’t know, Seattle Seahawks player Marshawn Lynch developed a reputation for enjoying Skittles candies while on his team’s sideline. With Seattle making the Superbowl this year, Mars teamed up with the player and team to produce a special edition Skittles Seattle Mix:
As a collector, I immediately took note of these when I heard about them last week. This package and these Skittles are probably never going to be sold in stores, however. They’re only being offered at special events this week in and around Seattle.
So, if anyone out there was in the right place to get Skittles Seattle Mix and wants to help us out at CollectingCandy.com with a package – please get in touch!
A big element of Skittles’ partnership with Marshawn Lynch, beyond the Seattle Mix release, is a series of related charity auctions.
Those auctions ended last night, and I thought I would share the results here. The trio of charity auction listings each included a box of Seattle Mix Skittles, along with a one-of-a-kind Skittles-encrusted football, helmet, or megaphone. Here they are:
Looks like Skittles and Marshawn Lynch’s efforts raised a nice amount of money for his charity, the Fam 1st Family Foundation.
That’s everything I’ve got for today and Superbowl Sunday.
Starting tomorrow and all week on the site, we’ll be celebrating CollectingCandy.com’s second anniversary – so make sure you check back every day. We plan to have a lot of fun posts up, all week long.
See you next time!
