Spangler’s 1970’s Zodiac Pops, Super Pops & Big Suckers!

CC_Spangler - ZODIAC POPS TITLE PLATE

One of the more clever uses of cellophane in candy packaging had to be when confectioners started utilizing the protective wrapping as a kind of catch-all canvas for lollipops.  By printing up a custom cellophane wrap, they could turn that lollipop into whatever design or fad they thought would sell best.   Such was the case with Spangler’s Zodiac Pops.

CC_Wacky Wednesdays_Whatchamakillit TITLE PLATE

Willy Wonka’s Xploders — From Around the Globe!

CC_Wonka XPloder TITLE PLATEBack in 1998, Nestle UK introduced the Wonka Xploder bar to the world – at least the United Kingdom part of it.  A chocolate bar infused with carbonated popping candy (ala Pop Rocks) – it seemed like a perfect kind of whimsy to sport the Wonka name.

The bar must have been a success because in the years that followed it would be released in Australia and the United States – with each country receiving a modified version of the original packaging.  Today I’m featuring the trio of wrappers that came about via Wonka’s Xplosion around the globe!

CC_Bazooka Chocolate Bar TITLE PLATE

As an enthusiast of confectionery brand-oddities, I love finding flavor spinoffs and unusual food crossovers.  I recently became aware of one I never thought I’d see, a Bazooka bubblegum-flavored chocolate bar.  Well, to be clear this is a Bazooka bubblegum-flavored bar made of white chocolate and sold by Bazooka’s Israel-based distributor – but it’s still amazing and today it’s my pleasure to share it!

7-Eleven’s Name Brand 7-Select Candy!

CC_7-Eleven Store Brands Name Brands TITLE PLATE

Store brands or “private label” candy offerings are typically generic treats like jelly beans and gummy bears but sometimes they’re repackaged name brand candies.  7-Select, the private label brand from 7-Eleven recently offered up a few name brands within their candy offerings and I thought it would be a fun topic to cover.
