Traditionally, the United States gets the bulk of Halloween-themed candy, but in recent years the popularity of Halloween has grown around the world. That’s led to some pretty cool Halloween confectionery releases originating in spots outside of the good old U.S.A. One of them I’m excited to share is a Halloween release Blood Orange Kit Kat from Germany.
Caramel apple seems to be the trending limited edition candy flavor this season with a number of brands offering their version of the classic mix. One example that’s new this year is from Nestle’s Wonka brand – so make the jump to check out 2014’s new Laffy Taffy Caramel Apple!
Today I’m coming at the idea of Halloween candy and candy marketing a little sideways. Rather than feature vintage packaging created specifically for the holiday, I’m going to showcase how Halloween has been used to promote all-year round versions of popular treats, which also allows me to feature those treats and a specific slice of our shared confectionery-past.

Healthy Food Brands, or The HFB Candy Company as they’re now called, are the folks who have been behind the Angry Birds gummies line since its introduction in 2012. Earlier this year, HFB followed up their success with the Angry Birds license by releasing the first confectionery products based on the hit mobile game Candy Crush. And for Halloween 2014, the Candy Crush candy line gets its first seasonal special release with Candy Crush Halloween Color Bombs!

This is partially due to them being a holiday release of a classic popular brand, but it’s also due to their receiving rapidly evolving packaging designs in the last few years. Getting just past the midpoint on our month-long CountdownToHalloween, I’ve decided to offer up something a little different – a two-part recap of some of my favorite posts from our previous years’ Halloween coverage.
