For today’s entry in our Easter Week coverage, I wanted to continue our CollectingCandy.com tradition and look at the full variety of Russell Stover’s seasonal offerings. In the last year I’ve had great fun featuring Russell Stover’s Halloween Pumpkins, Christmas Santas and most recently their Valentine’s Hearts – so it’s great to be able to round out the candy holidays by taking a detailed look at their variety of Easter chocolate eggs!
Russell Stover has been in the seasonal candy business for generations and in the last decade or so they’ve developed a great tradition of variety for their shelf-sized holiday offerings. My quick count of flavors for their Easter chocolate eggs this year comes to twenty and even though I was seeing them as I got them, I found the final flavor tally surprising.
Before I get to showcasing all the flavors available today, I wanted to look back at a few vintage Russell Stover Easter items in my collection.
Jumping back to the 1970’s, I’ve got a trio of Russell Stover’s Easter egg foil wrappers. I can’t say for sure how many variety of chocolate egg flavors that Russell Stover put out in the 1970’s – but I can say that these next three have withstood the test of time and remain even in the contemporary flavor assortment. Here they are:
Russell Stover – Milk Chocolate Vanilla Cream Egg – 1 1/4 oz Easter candy foil wrapper – 1970’s
Russell Stover – Dark Chocolate Maple Cream Egg – 1 1/4 oz Easter candy foil wrapper – 1970’s
Russell Stover – Dark Chocolate Coconut Cream Egg – 1 1/4 oz Easter candy foil wrapper – 1970’s
It’s neat to see how the packaging has changed over the years and you’ll be seeing the modern versions of those three further down in today’s post.
Next up are a pair of Russell Stover Easter wrappers from the 1990’s – though neither one is for their seasonal egg releases.
Russell Stover – Caramel Rabbit – 1 5/8 oz Easter candy wrapper package – 1999
This next wrapper is for a hand-decorated chocolate-covered marshmallow bunny. Russell Stover still makes a similar product but I can’t recall if the current version had any decorations.

This brings us up to the 2000’s and to the topic at hand: Russell Stover’s chocolate eggs. Here’s a recently-vintaged wrapper from 2007. I include it as it is very similar to what we have today but even it shows evidence of the changes that have occurred since:

Here’s a side-by-side with the current version of the same flavor:

That’s all twenty flavor varieties, but I’ve got a few more wrapper variations to share for the Big Bite and Sugar-Free versions.

It’s a pretty dazzling array of chocolate eggs that Russell Stover puts out these days, and while that’s impressive, it is only a portion of their Easter seasonal output. Here are a select few other Russell Stover pieces I picked up this year:

Russell Stover – Butter Bon Coconut Nest – 2oz Easter candy package wrapper – March 2014

And that’s everything for today’s Easter Week entry. I’m a bit sad to wrap this one up and in so doing come to the end of a year filled with Russell Stover holiday releases. Next year I wonder if we’ll see a return of these or if we’ll be greeted with new designs and flavors. Hopefully it’ll be a mix of both. For now I’ll just go back and enjoy one final Russell Stover Wedding Cake Egg before the weekend is done.
See you next time!

Hi
Do you have any pictures of the Russell Stover individual wrapped Easter eggs, chicks (yellow with chocolate piping and “fluff” filled ) or pink rabbits with green trim? The eggs also came in a three pack and had a single candy flower in the middle. They were made in the 1960’s and possibly 1970’s and wrapped in see through cellophane (before RS changed to the foil packaging. Thank you!
Does Russell Stowers make milk chocolate maple Easter eggs?
