For today’s entry in our Countdown to Easter I wanted to share a pair of groovy trade ads from 1970, featuring the Easter candy line-up for the year from Leaf.\u00a0 It’s a lot of great stuff, some of which you’ll recognize and a lot of which you probably won’t.<\/p>\n

When I really started going over this ad, I realized how many different species of bird egg they invoked for the naming of their treats.\u00a0 See how many you can find!<\/p>\n

I’ll start by showing you the two full-size ads, then I’ll zoom in on a few of my favorite pieces.<\/p>\n

There’s so much to love about this pair of classic candy trade ads, starting with their use of that groovy 70’s type design at the head of each page.<\/p>\n

These next two items appear to be the Easter holiday versions of Leaf’s Hip bubble gum<\/a> – the oddly compressed multi-color gum confection.<\/p>\n

Last but not least is an Easter holiday classic candy — Leaf’s Malted Milk Speckled Eggs:<\/p>\n

Of all of the candy packaging included in these two trade ads, I am fortunate enough to have an actual example of one of these 10-cent Speckled Eggs packs in my collection – and here it is:<\/p>\n
