As a candy packaging collector, it’s always fun when a standard brand undergoes a packaging redesign.\u00a0 The evolution of packaging design is one of the aspects of collecting that I find the most fascinating.\u00a0 So it was with a great amount of collector-enthusiasm that I greeted the new Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkin designs on shelves this year.<\/p>\n

For the past several years, Reese’s Pumpkins have been sold in a cool purple package with bats and a Halloween moon as the backdrop.<\/p>\n

I’d become pretty accustomed to seeing that design each Halloween, and I’d often save a few in the fridge to devour over the winter.\u00a0 Because of that, I knew them well.\u00a0 So, when I spotted this year’s version, I immediately recognized it as something different.<\/p>\n

While the central composition of the logo and pumpkin outline remains similar to the outgoing design, the rest of the wrapper has been more mainstreamed.\u00a0 By mainstreamed, I mean that now the package looks much more like a standard Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup wrapper in color and composition.\u00a0\u00a0 While I’ll miss the outgoing look, I understand the value in having the Reese’s Pumpkin immediately recognized as a Reese’s product.<\/p>\n

So, a package design has changed, and now the outgoing version becomes a vintage piece; one connected to a certain span of years.<\/p>\n

And that’s everything I’ve got to share on Reese’s new Peanut Butter Pumpkin package designs.<\/p>\n
