Welcome back to another edition of CollectingCandy.com’s Wacky Wednesdays!\u00a0 This week we’ll be taking a closer look at a sticker from the original 1970’s Wacky Packages Series 6:\u00a0 Footsie Roll.<\/p>\n

Like a number of other classic stickers, this is one I categorize as a “body part” Wacky, like Bustedfinger<\/a>, or G.I. Toe.\u00a0 They’re kinda creepy, but I think that just makes them more fun for kids.\u00a0 Here’s a close-up look at the original sticker art:<\/p>\n

And here’s a 1970’s Tootsie Roll wrapper from my collection that’s a pretty close match to the one that was parodied:<\/p>\n

Actually, now that I’ve got these both up here, I’m realizing that the 1970’s wrapper I have has subtle typographical differences with that seen on the Footsie Roll sticker.\u00a0 Those differences may indicate that the sticker was based on an earlier version of wrapper than the one I have in my collection.\u00a0 Maybe not, but it sure seems possible.<\/p>\n

For the moment this is as close as I can come.\u00a0 But I will taking an extra look at every vintage Tootsie Roll wrapper I come across from now on.<\/p>\n
