Revealed!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Aero bar is a well-known treat in the UK as well as in Canada, but here in the United States, it remains relatively unknown.\u00a0 But that almost wasn&#8217;t the case, back in the late 1980&#8217;s.\u00a0 [Edit: The US release of Aero actually took place in 1993.]<\/p>\n<p>While I plan to delve into the deeper history of Aero at some point, today I want to focus on one aspect of Aero history I never knew about until recently &#8211; that being that in the late 1980&#8217;s, Nestle briefly produced and sold the Aero bar for US markets.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure if this was a regional test market release, or if it was available across the country and simply didn&#8217;t catch on.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t recall seeing it back then, and I&#8217;ve never come across a wrapper for one before, so it couldn&#8217;t have been around too much.<\/p>\n<p>Without further discussion, today it is my pleasure to reveal a wrapper for the brief American run of Nestle&#8217;s Aero. <!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10486\" style=\"width: 780px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10486\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10486\" alt=\"USA - Nestle - Aero - chocolate bar wrapper - 1993\" src=\"http:\/\/www.collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/CC_USA-Nestle-Aero-chocolate-bar-wrapper-1993.jpg\" width=\"770\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"http:\/\/collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/CC_USA-Nestle-Aero-chocolate-bar-wrapper-1993.jpg 770w, http:\/\/collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/CC_USA-Nestle-Aero-chocolate-bar-wrapper-1993-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10486\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">USA &#8211; Nestle &#8211; Aero &#8211; NEW &#8211; chocolate candy bar wrapper &#8211; 1993<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It&#8217;s interesting to consider that Nestle had only owned the Aero brand for a short time when this US release was launched.\u00a0 Neslte had only acquired the brands of Rowntree-Mackintosh (creators of the Aero, originally) a year or two before this.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also wild to think that earlier in the 80&#8217;s, Nestle had its own similar aerated style bar, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/?p=1181\" target=\"_blank\">Choco&#8217;lite, discontinued.<\/a>\u00a0 [I will remind readers that a Choco&#8217;lite is not the same exact bar as an Aero.\u00a0 An Aero is smooth, but a Choco&#8217;lite had crispy chips\/bubbles.]<\/p>\n<p>Does anyone recall coming across the American Aero during its brief appearance in the late 1980&#8217;s?\u00a0 If you do, I&#8217;d love to hear about it.\u00a0 I suspect that this is one of those Sasquatch like wrappers that was only glimpsed by a few.<\/p>\n<p>One final piece of history I&#8217;d like to share today is that in America in 1937, Hershey released a bar called Aero.\u00a0 The Wikipedia states that Hershey licensed the formula from the Rowntree company, though I could find no evidence of that on the 1937 Aero wrapper scans I&#8217;ve seen.\u00a0 In spite of that, they might well have been licensed from the UK Aero owners at the time.\u00a0 Make the jump over to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.candywrapperarchive.com\/?s=Aero\" target=\"_blank\">CandyWrapperArchive.com, to check them out<\/a>:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4458\" style=\"width: 571px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.candywrapperarchive.com\/?s=Aero\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4458\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4458\" title=\"CC_1937 Hershey Aero wrappers - CandyWrapperArchive\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/CC_1937-Hershey-Aero-wrappers-CandyWrapperArchive1.jpg\" width=\"561\" height=\"374\" srcset=\"http:\/\/collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/CC_1937-Hershey-Aero-wrappers-CandyWrapperArchive1.jpg 561w, http:\/\/collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/CC_1937-Hershey-Aero-wrappers-CandyWrapperArchive1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 561px) 100vw, 561px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4458\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">1937 Hershey Aero wrappers &#8211;
