They made chocolate bars, taffy, and even chewing gum. \u00a0Today, I&#8217;m going to share a couple pieces out of my collection, from the &#8220;Candy Kitchens of Howard Johnson&#8217;s&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Both wrappers today happen to be of the same product, which I didn&#8217;t realize when I sat down to write this today &#8211; that was the logo for the Candy Kitchens. \u00a0 Next up is the same treat but from two decades later:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3146\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/?attachment_id=3146\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3146\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3146\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3146\" title=\"CC_Howard Johnson's - Fudge - milk chocolate covered double bar - candy wrapper - 1970's\" src=\"http:\/\/www.collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/CC_Howard-Johnsons-Fudge-milk-chocolate-covered-double-bar-candy-wrapper-1970s.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"http:\/\/collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/CC_Howard-Johnsons-Fudge-milk-chocolate-covered-double-bar-candy-wrapper-1970s.jpg 800w, http:\/\/collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/CC_Howard-Johnsons-Fudge-milk-chocolate-covered-double-bar-candy-wrapper-1970s-300x174.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3146\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Howard Johnson&#39;s - Fudge - milk chocolate covered double bar - candy wrapper - 1970&#39;s<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Though not quite as charming as the 1950&#8217;s wrapper, the 70&#8217;s version has its appeal. \u00a0I especially like how the side of the wrapper, or the side of the bar, would have read &#8220;FUDGE FUDGE FUDGE&#8221;. \u00a0It&#8217;s enough to make Ned Flanders blush.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it for pieces from my own collection that came out of the unlikely confectioner of Howard Johnson&#8217;s. \u00a0I do have one other interesting image to share, and it comes via a Flickr pal of mine. \u00a0This one is a photo, of a black-and-white photo, of a trio of Howard Johnson&#8217;s Salt Water Taffy boxes. \u00a0The taffy boxes seen in the photo have detailed illustrations on them, and are boxes I&#8217;d love to track down &#8211;
