{"id":1655,"date":"2012-03-01T14:47:00","date_gmt":"2012-03-01T19:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/?p=1655"},"modified":"2012-03-04T15:31:16","modified_gmt":"2012-03-04T20:31:16","slug":"prohibition-lifesavers-when-butter-rum-was-butter-yum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/collectingcandy.com\/wordpress\/?p=1655","title":{"rendered":"Prohibition Lifesavers:  When Butter-Rum was Butter-Yum!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[UPDATE:\u00a0 Timeline updated on March 4th, 2012]<\/p>\n<p>There are but a select few branded confections that can claim to have been around a century, and as of this year, Lifesavers is one of them.\u00a0 For a collector, Lifesavers provide such a history and array of offerings that you could have a hobby focused on them alone.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve enjoyed the bits I&#8217;ve learned about the history of &#8220;The Candy with the Hole&#8221; the Lifesavers company.\u00a0 I went online and sent them an e-mail.\u00a0 I did get a response back that they didn&#8217;t have records going back that far, and they could not tell me what the Butter-Yums wrapper was.\u00a0 So, with the folks who owned the company, I hit a dead-end.<\/p>\n<p>Not content to give up without an answer, I put the question to Don F., a candy-contact of mine that is a member of a group of former Beech-Nut\/Lifesavers factory employees that get together for reunions.\u00a0 Don was quick to reply, and explained the Butter-Yums quite simply:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;After Prohibition;
