Floating out of the groovy 1970’s today is a ghostly example of vintage Halloween confectionery packaging.\u00a0 So make the jump and check out this special Fleer Dubble Bubble Bubblegum Halloween pack from 1976!<\/p>\n

I picked up this piece just a few months ago and I’m glad I did, as not only is it a fun bit of vintage Halloween candy packaging, but it’s also where I appropriated the “Halloween” Jack-O-Lantern logo for of our 2014 Halloween site banner.<\/p>\n

The graphics, design and type work on this one are all pretty enjoyable, so I would have to imagine the designer was having some fun with it when he put it all together.\u00a0 Let’s check it out:<\/p>\n

The graphics are nearly the same on the front and the back of the package, though the back does feature an ingredients list.\u00a0 Most interesting though, might be the original price tag which has remained affixed to the front of the package since the day it was purchased.\u00a0 The person who saved it noted the date in ink on that price tag, and so recorded exactly when they acquired it.\u00a0 That note allows us to confidently place the origins of this piece in the Bicentennial year, 1976.\u00a0\u00a0 Here’s a closer look:<\/p>\n

I do quite a bit of seasonal candy shopping these days at Walgreens, so it’s pretty cool to have this vintage Walgreens price tag on a Halloween item from so many years ago.\u00a0 I really dig it!<\/p>\n

When I acquired this package, there were no individual Dubble Bubble wrappers included with it, though I can guess what style they were.\u00a0 I have a trio of Dubble Bubble bubblegum wrapper examples from the early 70’s, so it’s likely the are the same or very similar to what was once found in this delightfully-spooky package:<\/p>\n
