Store brands or “private label” candy offerings are typically generic treats like jelly beans and gummy bears but sometimes they’re repackaged name brand candies.\u00a0 7-Select, the private label brand from 7-Eleven recently offered up a few name brands within their candy offerings and I thought it would be a fun topic to cover.<\/p>\n

I’ve been a fan of the 7-Eleven brand for years, likely because it is so closely tied to a certain period in my childhood and it carries that nostalgic connection.\u00a0 Summer days of riding bikes to my local 7-Eleven with friends and grabbing a Big Gulp of Mountain Dew before an evening of Dungeons and Dragons is a great memory.\u00a0 A few years ago, that happy nostalgic connection with 7-Eleven even prompted me to pick up this vintage t-shirt on eBay:<\/p>\n

Due to my fondness for the brand, when 7-Eleven started producing their own private label products in the form of 7-Select, I thought it was cool.\u00a0 I first took note of an early version of the 7-Select private label brand back in 2010 when I snagged this animal crackers box:<\/p>\n

Not long after I picked up those animal crackers, 7-Eleven would soon revamp the look of 7-Select, and when they started offering up candy under that new logo it really caught my attention.<\/p>\n

7-Select has been producing a range of peg-bag candy for a while now, though the offerings have been the more traditionally generic type of products.\u00a0 [Edit: 7-Select has actually been offering candy since the private label launch in 2009<\/a>.]\u00a0 Here are a few of them:<\/p>\n

As a collector, I thought those generic packs were pretty neat and I had planned to add at least a couple of them to my collection.\u00a0\u00a0 But when I saw that 7-Select had begun to offer name brands as part of their product range, I grabbed them up.\u00a0 To me, these were must-haves and here they are:<\/p>\n

Though these are released under the 7-Select private label, the inclusion of name brand graphics makes them a true crossover product.\u00a0 So for me, these can easily be considered an unusual part of my Wonka collection, or my Just Born Hot Tamales collection:<\/p>\n

It’s worth noting that with the 7-Select name brand packs I picked up, those name brands come from three different companies; Nestle-Wonka, Just Born, and finally the Ferrara Candy Company:<\/p>\n

I’ll be watching to see what other name-brands get picked up by 7-Eleven for incorporation into the 7-Select range.\u00a0 I’ve also found that, now that I have these packs, I feel the pull to track down the full range of 7-Select generic candy packages for my collection.\u00a0 Ah, the life of a collector.<\/p>\n
